Your Masterworks fine art portrait combines photographic portraiture with painting, created in a style that pays homage to the "Old Masters" painters. Our subjects are outfitted in wardrobes that resemble the Renaissance and Baroque eras, but with a bit of a modern edge. Baroque art is characterized by great drama, rich, deep color, and intense light and dark shadows. The use of these characteristics in modern-day portraiture lends itself to painterly images. The final portraits are printed on an artist’s canvas and fit with rich, museum framing.
Lisa Asp is probably best known for her pet portraits, but she has a deep history in human portraiture. Her love of photography and portrait work began while pursuing an art degree in the 1990’s. Through her studies she gravitated toward the “old masters” – the works of Rembrandt and Vermeer, for example – which can be seen in her dramatic lighting and use of rich color. As a result, her photographic work is often mistaken for paintings. Asp has continued her education over the years and has earned her Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman degrees as well as being a Certified Professional Photographer.
Masterworks commissions are offered for individual children ages 7-14. This time period is one in which children tend to come in to their own - changing from small children into independent teens. This period is often not photographed, and we feel it is the perfect time to create something special. This timeless, classical style of portrait will compliment any home. With rich tones and beautiful fabrics, your child will have a very special, heirloom portrait to pass on through the generations.
We will begin with a meeting to discuss the details: where are you planning to display your Masterworks portrait, are there specific colors that would look best in your home, does your child have special characteristics we want to showcase. We will schedule your Masterworks portrait session at this meeting. Your child should attend with you as we will spend some time in the wardrobe room putting together the perfect clothing for your Masterworks portrait. All sessions are fully inclusive of wardrobe, hair & make-up, and your final framed canvas.
